Honestly I believe that the spirit and soul are the same thing, just with two different names. Both are just another way of saying the essence of ourselves and who we really are, like when people say that when someone dies they are not really gone because their spirit or soul lives forever. And the heart controls what kind of soul or spirit you have: good or evil. But that's just my opinion.

You say that there is a difference between the heart in KH and the real world,there isn't or at least in my opinion,the heart mentioned in KH is not a physical thing,it's a mental thing it is not materialistic,it's more like a place (not real of course) that contains memories.Therefore the heart makes you who you are.As for the soul,it sounds like it is the heart.

Huh. The heart as a place that contains memories...I think you're on to something. And same goes for the heart being the essence of ourselves.

My turn, I guess, for explanation:
The human being is composed of three essential components: body, soul, and spirit. The outermost part is (obviously) the body. The body acts as the container, in a sense, of the soul and the spirit. The soul, inside the body, also has three components: mind, will, and emotions. Thus, having a soul enables us to feel, think-the ability to rationalize/comprehend mentally, and choose-the ability to make decisions and whatnot. Finally, the innermost core of our being, the spirit , also has three subparts. (I sadly don't recall what they are...oops) The spirit is the innermost core of the soul, and this is perhaps why it becomes difficult to distinguish; however, there is at least one very large distinguishing factor: while demons may be inside the soul, they cannot enter the spirit. (Note that the spirit and the soul are different; and yet they are somehow seemingly inseparable. It's complicated, and obviously I don't know everything, and neither does anyone else. The heart is, then, a bit of a mystery...) The heart is often referred to as the spirit, considering its position as the innermost part/core.

So, in having presented this, do you see a problem with the metaphor in KH II (if there really is one at all)? Nobodies have a soul and a body, yet they can't feel. At the same time, however, one of the functions of the soul is the ability to feel. Thus, I feel that I am missing something in the correlation, which leads me to think that I have either picked the wrong correlation, or that I have missed another point that the creators of the game have been trying to make...

The members of Organization XIII want to be whole. If the heart correlates to feeling (because when they had hearts, they could feel, and they remember-for the most part-what it was like to have a heart, to feel), does that mean that they've really been missing something else all along?...I don't really know how to explain what I'm trying to get at (I apologize). Any thoughts, though?

Here's what I beleive. The soul is what gives life. The heart is what gives us our emotions and it is where our most precious memories are stored. The spirit is our determenation and our will. The mind is what lets us control our body. The body is merely a shell that holds everything else within.

These are some really great answers! Certainly a thought provoking topic. So I guess the next step is morals. The quality of "goodness" is expressed as at least somewhat desirable in the game series because Riku Replica calls Sora a good person. He would not have said this if some sort of moral conflict didn't exist...oh boy. This could take some time to formulate...

yeah,I'm giving you rep for this it's really opening my mind.So what I'm going to do is something else,I'm going to think of a baby,a baby cannot defie itself with memories as it barely has any. As soon as we become about 2 we ca start to remember,if you were abused as a baby you will remember and grow to be a darker person and will have what many would say "negative" traits. If you were spilt you will grow to want everything your way....so on and so forth.

So how does a baby feel,I cannot remember anything about being a baby and so it is possible that as a baby you do not remember easily,like trying to teach a stubborn dog to do tricks. We know a baby does feel,it cries *mostly for hunger but there is sadness and happiness.) I put this down to the heart,a place that allows you to feel without thinking.
